Komiya Yasumasa

Komiya Yasumasa (b. 1956) uses Edo-komon stencil dyeing to create detailed patterns that reveal their intricacy upon closer inspection. Born into a textile family that had been in operation since his grandfather’s generation, Komiya Yasumasa trained under his father Yasutaka (Living National Treasure 1925-2017) and inherited his father’s techniques.
