Suda Kenji

須田賢司

Suda Kenji box

Suda Kenji (b. 1954) was born in Tokyo as the eldest son of Suda Sosui, who was also a woodwork artist. His family have specialized in wood working since Suda’s grandfather’s generation. After graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Kogei (craft) High School in 1973, he began to apprentice under his father. For Suda, “Kogei is not the same as craft”. His works are not limited to functionality of items like furniture and interior decoration, but rather emphasize appreciation of viewing, so that those who hold them can calm their minds.
