Suzuki Osamu

Suzuki Osamu (b. 1934) is a ceramist who specializes in shino ware, which is originally from Gifu prefecture. Shino is known by thick white glaze and red scorch marks. Suzuki’s signature tea bowls are made in distinctively shino style with thick white glaze and red scorch marks, each piece in unique characteristics. Suzuki challenges his own expressions in his work with ceramic, be creative and original, by exploring unconventional or contemporary methods within traditional styles.
